Mission Statement
In the next five years, we plan on focusing our efforts toward new construction, specifically government-related construction and improvements. This is not to say that our service in residential and commercial will be eliminated or reduced, but rather, we hope to increase and expand our core capabilities. The company also hopes to expand its resources to include electrical, plumbing, and other construction-related trades under its umbrella. As the environment continues to deteriorate, ATCO Services, Inc. continuance towards innovativion is leading the organization toward LEED and DDC control systems projects. With these goals, we hope to remain successful in times of such instability.
History
ATCO Services, Inc. was founded in 1985. During the early years of business, ATCO primarily focused on service to residential customers. As time passed, the increased need for qualified mechanical contractors in the industry led ATCO to expand its services. The company grew from service only to an all-inclusive packaged mechanical contractor (i.e. ductwork, equipment, piping, controls, etc.). As the skill level increased, ATCO gradually began obtaining contracts and subsequently, government contracts as well. With each passing year, the size of the contracts have grown, reflecting the company's capabilities and knowledge. Today, there is not a single mechanical source that is untapped by the company. Similarly, the company's human resources have grown as well. Starting with only one man, the company now holds managerial positions and a labor pool comparable to any corporate firm. Employees are given ample education and training; the average employee can obtain certifications and skills faster in half the time. We hope to continue and meet customers expectations by learning from our weaknesses and capitalizing on our strengths.
Philosophy
ATCO Services, Inc. bases its foundation of the following philosophies:
- Innovation
- Outreach
- People
- Performance
- Quality Control
- Safety
- Social Responsibility
Principals
Hung Hong
Mr. Hong always had an interest in tinkering with what was broken when he was growing up. At the age of 17, he had his own mechanics shop, which repaired and installed new HVAC equipment in both homes and businesses. The shop grew to include a handful employees. It was during these years that Mr. Hong saw the importance of growth and was able to teach and skill-build each employee. After coming to America in 1970, Mr. Hong worked for Trane as a low-level service technician. His skill, efficiency, and effectiveness led to increased recognition and customer satisfaction. Within one year, he was promoted to supervisor for the entire service department. Finally as a supervisor, it was clear what kind of leader Mr. Hong was; many service technicians and colleagues turned to him for advice when even they were not able to correctly troubleshoot and diagnose a system issue. While the company provided him great achievement, Hung decided once more that he wanted to open his own business. He began by focusing on his strength in service. After several years, his brother Howard joined him. The business has continued to flourish and grow every year. Mr. Hong's passion has not only assisted in the phenomenal growth of the company, but has also led to a greater diversification.
Howard Hong
Howard grew up interested in everything, but especially in French culture. Howard always had the ability to successfully troubleshoot and perform the same work as his brother. After coming to America with Mr. Hong, Howard studied under his brothers direction and continued to become Vice President of ATCO Services, Inc. Howard brought a high level of charisma, skill, and knowledge; ATCO would not be what it is today without him. Mr. Hong managed and directed various large projects, some of which include the Human Rights Campaign and the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. Although he passed away in 2002, his memory and passion for life have never been forgotten. His legacy has been instilled and left by the practices and actions of not only the company, but his three sons as well.
Diversity Policy Statement
Diversity is not just a catch phrase in the business books; it is an important value for any company. Especially in today's business world, diversity is no longer a step above competitors, it is a requirement. ATCO Services Inc. recognizes the importance of diversity and is committed to ensuring that it is an integral part of our strategic plan. The company is committed to providing opportunities to individuals and companies of all races, ethnicity, gender, age, socioeconomic background, and religion. Our policy of encouraging and assisting diversely-owned enterprises is a reflection of the company's commitment to diversity and the communities where we work and live in. This commitment is emphasized by the highest levels of management and is communicated to all employees.
Not only does this comply with federal and state anti-discrimination laws, but our company believes that the success of the company depends on a continuous need to diversify. This allows us to grow and learn from experiences, while creating assets we might not otherwise encounter if we did not believe so strongly in diversity.
ATCO Services Inc. recognizes the impact that diversity has on the community. Therefore, we understand that when diversity-owned businesses flourish and prosper, the communities they serve share the benefits. Thus, when our communities succeed, we all succeed.
